Life is Like ………

The Airport: There are many terminals, flights and people but less than 1% of the people at the airport will board the same flight and disembark with you. Such is life, so choose your friends wisely and stay focused on your goal. Just as you wouldn’t board any flight you see simply because you missed your original flight or are running late, so must you also not just choose anyone to be your close friend.

The Flower: No matter how beautiful a flower is, there comes a time when it’s no longer a sight to behold and it perishes. Such is life. No matter how pretty, or strong you believe you are, there will come a time when you wouldn’t look the same or be as strong. So use your time, knowledge and influence wisely. The old adage goes “make hay while the sun shines” but the good book says “teach us to number our days, that we may apply our heart to wisdom”.

The Roller coaster: When in use, a roller coaster must swing/move in an upward and downward motion, take tight turns, and make steep slopes and inversions. It is a popular feature in an amusement park. Isn’t it amazing that people leave the comfort of their homes to pay and enjoy a roller coaster ride? Such is life. It is filled with joyous moments but there can be challenging, difficult and unplanned situations. A friend once told me that life without an adventure is a boring one. I think I agree to an extent (lol).

So as long as you are in motion on the ride called “LIFE”,  expect some interesting moments but don’t be overcome by it. Use every situation you experience (good or bad) to get stronger and better. And when in doubt as to what to do, reach out for help from those friends “who are going the same place as you”. Meaningful friendships and relationships are priceless.

As we embark on another new year, with the gift of life in tow, make a resolution to live purposefully, love fearlessly and to serve wholeheartedly. As I’ve said repeatedly in a number of my earlier posts, no human being was designed to last or live forever so do your best while you can, for as long as you can.
